Why Does AGT Run at the Height of a "6th-Floor Building"? — The Optimal Urban Solution Hidden at 13 Meters

When using AGT systems like the

Nippori-Toneri Liner, the first thing we

do is head up high via stairs or

elevators. The tracks sit approximately

13 meters (about 43 feet) above the

ground, which is equivalent to the 6th

floor of a building. Compared to Light

Rail Transit (LRT), which requires no

vertical movement, the "psychological

hurdle" to boarding might seem higher

. However, hidden within this 13-meter

height is a meticulous design

continues to be chosen for airport

links and urban trunk lines.


While the accessibility of LRT is one

valid solution, the wisdom of AGT—

maintaining a high quality of service

without affecting the "blood flow" of

the city—is another form of urban

hospitality. The next time you look up

at those long station stairs, remember

that those 13 meters represent a

"spatial structure" designed to keep

city traffic flowing smoothly and to

deliver you to your destination exactly

on time.
